






Ecological tours
In Peru approximately five percent of the total surface has been protected divided in 24 national reservations. The country possesses some of the most virgin humid tropical forests that still exist in the world. The city of Iquitos is the starting point for trips to the north-eastern Peruvian forest. Cusco is the starting point towards the south forest.
Both cities offer a mosaic of excursions. In the north-eastern jungle lies Pacaya-Samiria, with its 2 080 000 hectares the largest national reserves in the country. The reserves houses among others black alligators, manatees, two species of fresh water dolphins, tapirs, river turtles and a countless quantity of fish and birds. It’s also the habitat of the biggest ophidian of the world, the anaconda.
The black alligator, the giant river otter and the pekari are part of the wild life. In the Department Madre de Dios lies Tambopata-candamo which encloses an area of 5500 hectares. The place is famous for the biggest concentration of parrots in the world. Puerto Maldonado, capital of the Madre de Dios Department, is the starting point for excursions to the surrounding jungle.
